Makes it easier to fight algae in the aquarium. UV radiation is effective in controlling bacteria, yeast, mold and other pathogens, which in turn control the growth of algae. The water flows in direct contact with the UV lamp and intensifies its function to fight green water. In addition, you can hide it behind the aquarium decor so that there is minimal visible hoses and tubes in the aquarium.
Question: Is this a disposable device?
This is not a disposable unit, UV lamps have a life of 6-9 months in constant operation. However, they should only be used if there is algae in the water or if the water is not clear. If the LED on the control panel is OFF, it means that you have to replace the UV lamp. Like any other UV sterilizer, the incandescent lamp is disposable. The lamp is replaced together with its "housing" for the seal to be fully secured.
Question: Why is the flow rate so slow?
A slow flow rate together with the ZIGZAG flow design (inside the lamp housing) is designed to maximize sterilization.
Question: Can you make the mushroom bigger? I have to clean it every other day.
The UV sterilizer is not an internal filter. You can try to put the UV sterilizer near the outlet of your existing filter, where the water is cleaner. If that doesn't help, we recommend that you clean the filter media and make sure that it is sufficiently filtered.
Question: How come my light bulb looks old and covered with dust?
If you notice a small white powder on the surface of your Green Killing Machine, you simply rinse it off. This powder is due to the special high-performance plastic used to withstand the intense UVC bulb.
